Cloud map data for 11/16/95 IMAGES: Image files show the horizontal variation of cloud base, top, and optical depth. The base and top are defined as the lowest and highest altitude, respectively, where backscatter cross section is greater than a given threshold value. Horizontal distances are in kilometers. The lidar is located at point (0,0) on the image. The lidar was located near Lake Koskonong, WI, at 42.9264 N 89.040 W. The optical depths are calculated between the detected base and the top of the cloud. The optical depth map calibration has been derived from simultaneous Volume Imaging and High Spectral Resolution Lidar data. This calibration involves approximations and must be used with caution. DOWNLOADABLE ASCII DATA FILES The threshold value and the given optical depth map are for 1064 nm wavelength. All files have 99 rows x 99 columns of data. Each row is separated by new line character. Each element represents 200 m x 200 m area. Row indexes increase to North and column indexes increase to East. The lidar is located at the element (50,50) (middle of the data field). Lidar was located near Lake Koskonong, WI, at 42.9264 N and 89.040 W. The reference time at the middle of the image: 23:40:00 UT. Data files are named as: HHMMXTH.dat where HHMM = UT time in hours and minutes X = {b,o,t} for {cloud base, layer optical depth, cloud top} TH = threshold backscatter cross section (T) x 10^(-H) for cloud base and top detection Image files are named as HHMMXTHC.gif where HHMMXTH = as previous C = {b,c} for {black and white, rainbow color} images
